I recently had a wonderful stay at a hotel in Santo Domingo. The first thing that impressed me was the great value for money. The prices were very reasonable and considering the facilities and service provided, it felt like a steal.
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. There was nothing that I felt could be improved upon.

The room wasn't comfortable at all. Very bad furniture. The bathroom was dirty, the toilet was licking. The bathroom towels were dirty and old. At the first rain the room got flooded, you could swim in there. On top of all this the breakfast was horrible. Every day they served the same , awful sandwiches with cheese and sometimes ham, and scrambled rotten eggs.. Yuck!

Having a kitchenette was a major bonus, being close to various tourist spots, and just a 5-minute walk from Mercado Modelo is great, and the downtown Santo Domingo area is definitely worth checking out.

The Plaza Colonial hotel turned out to be a great find for our stay in Santo Domingo. the value for money was exceptional, with a two-bedroom apartment only costing $75 per night. This was perfect for our family of four, and the beds were clean and comfortable. Secondly, the location was ideal, as it was just a short walk to El Conde and the rest of the Colonial District, allowing us to easily explore the main attractions. Lastly, the staff at the hotel were friendly and attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed during our stay.
Our experience at this hotel was excellent and there were no significant issues to mention.

The hotel staff was helpful and efficient. The AC and hot water worked during my visit.
Worn furniture and fixtures. Budget lodging at best. Other hotels in the area are slightly more for much nicer accommodations.

The location of the hotel is perfect, as it is on the edge of the colonial town and within walking distance of main attractions. This makes it convenient for bike riders like myself to easily explore the area without having to travel far.
The hotel lacks proper maintenance in certain areas, as mentioned in some reviews.

The location
No hot water, bad cleaning, the pool was not available and sometimes we didnt have water in the room. Also, the restaurant was running out of everything they had in the menu, everyday.

We were in a room that was like a dungeon w/no windows. The smell was terrible; the facility was dirty; the bed was broken; pillows lumpy; chairs uncomfortable! We saw many prostitutes and some were given our room number and called us on our phone. We were in a whore house!

The two bedroom apartment was spacious and affordable for our group of five. We were happy to find a functional kitchenette and a decent-sized fridge, which helped us store our groceries. the location was convenient too, with easy access to the main attractions. We especially appreciated the security guards who kept a watchful eye on the property.
Our enjoyment was marred by the unpleasant smell in the bathroom.
